Have you ever tried and imagined your face without your eyebrows? Yes, it’s hard to think how our faces would look without those two curves above our eyes. As striking as it may sound, many people, almost four million around the world, tend to lose their eyebrows each year. At Dr. Saraswat’s Skin and Hair Clinics, Mumbai, our surgeons offer eyebrow transplants as the ultimate solution to thinning eyebrow hair.
Most women already know the importance of well shaped brows to enhance the facial beauty. And that is why, they make all those monthly visits to the parlour for threading or spend hours before the mirror plucking them. But even men would agree that their faces would not be the same without natural looking eyebrows.
Now, there can be many reasons behind thinning of eyebrows, e.g., genetics, overplucking, prior electrolysis or laser hair removal, thyroid or other hormonal abnormalities, or trauma due to surgery, burns or other types of accidents. Whatever be the reason, eyebrow transplant is the cheapest and most natural solution.
When to go for an eyebrow transplant?
- To have restored full, thick eyebrows.
- If you desire a subtle thickening.
- To make a scar less visible.
The Eyebrow Hair Restoration Procedure:
Eyebrow transplant is specifically designed to restore overly thin, scarred, or completely missing eyebrows.
Each eyebrow needs 500 follicles approximately to have a natural appearance. The number of follicles required may vary depending on the existing hair and the density needed.
Eyebrow transplants using scalp hair requires a special skill in identifying the ‘bend’; that is natural in each transplanted hair. Since it is a very delicate procedure, eyebrow hair transplant must be done by only a specialist who has mastered the skills.
The donor hairs are extracted from the back of the scalp using FUE technique. The entire procedure is performed using local anaesthesia. Some swelling and bruising may be caused during the process, but it is a painless exercise. The recovery period is painless as well.
What to expect?
Transplanted hairs will fall in two weeks before growing again within 3-4 months. From then onwards, they will continue to grow for a ,lifetime. The growth rate of the transplanted eyebrow hairs is similar to that of the donor scalp hair. However, after one to two years, the growth rate will slow down.
